Jack Nicklaus

The Jack Nicklaus Museum

In 1938 the Ohio State University opened a golf course near Tremont Road in Upper Arlington. Less than two years later and only a short drive from the OSU clubhouse, Charles and Helen Nicklaus welcomed a son they named Jack.

Over the years, Jack Nicklaus would become quite familiar with Ohio State's Scarlet course, first as a member of the University's golf team and more recently as the course designer who oversaw the redevelopment of the Scarlet Links.

Jack took up golf at the age of 10 and by the age of 12 had won the first of his five consecutive Ohio State Junior Titles. By the age of 16 Jack was playing against professionals and stacking up an impressive collection of trophies.

During his collegiate career at Ohio State, Jack won the United States Amateur title twice and also an NCAA Championship.

As a professional, Nicklaus quickly became a household name around the world, amassing an astounding 73 PGA titles including 18 majors.

To Jack's fans his records and scorecards do not tell the full story. Their admiration is in large part a result of Jack's easy smile, his charm and professionalism.

In 2006, his alma mater honored the Golden Bear during halftime of the Ohio State vs. Minnesota game by allowing him to "dot the i" in Script Ohio.

THE JACK NICKLAUS MUSEUM

Given Jack's connection to Columbus and The Ohio State University, it seems very appropriate that the museum built to honor him sits within the confines of the Ohio State University.

The museum houses a large collection of Nicklaus memorabilia and historical displays related to golf and Nicklaus.

The museum also has a 400 seat dining room that is available for events and meetings.
