"It is important to remember that we are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but also the leaders of today. Throughout my entire life, I have always desired to be a public servant and I have wasted no time in trying. Running for City Council in Oregon, Ohio, a suburb of Toledo, has been a truly amazing experience. While it continues to be a roller coaster, I cherish every moment in hopes that on November 3rd, 2015, I become the youngest councilman in Oregonian history. Oregon has given so much to me, and now, it is time for me to give back."

"In one year I broke four MacBook chargers. The fourth was my business partner's. After this we decided to create a solution - the first ever MacBook charger case. We entered the concept into a pitch competition at school and took home first place and $1500. From there we used the prize winnings to launch a Kickstarter campaign. While running the campaign we also won the Fisher College Undergraduate Business Plan Competition. The Kickstarter campaign raised over 31K from 860 backers in over 30 countries. Since then our product has entered the retail market and is being shipped around the world. Currently being sold in 81 countries worldwide! Every component in our supply chain is produced locally in central Ohio.

The University District is a community of culture, history and creative arts. It's a great location for innovation and opportunity. These are some of the reasons my business partners and I have decided to root into this area and continue the growth of Columbus' entrepreneurial/startup community. In addition, being close to the Ohio State University is a great benefit. We owe a lot of our success to the university and the resources it has provided us throughout our careers. You can learn more about our work at www.launchlabsco.com."

Mark: "I transferred to Columbus from Kansas City with L Brands in the spring of 2009. After looking at various properties in the Columbus area I was drawn to the Dennison Place area. My boyfriend and I wanted to live in an area that provided us the culture that draws so many people to this area. As an owner of a new interior design business it was important to live in an area that's thriving with artist, designers and many small businesses."

Nick: "We love seeing the area evolve and grow over the past 5 years."

"I have been around the University District for 20 years. It's vibrant, and full of a wide variety of people. I have many interests and there's no other place in Columbus where you're as likely to meet people who can talk ancient history, comics, David Lynch films, and all kinds of music.

I was interested in the cause of suicide prevention and it was located in the North Central Mental Health building, so I came to the mountain, so to speak. I've been volunteering at Suicide Prevention Services's hotline for 7 years now. Also, Neil Armstrong came to my First Communion party, and I have five tattoos, all hidden when I go to work (though you can see the two biggest ones when I wear shorts)."

To learn about volunteering for the Suicide Prevention Hotline, please contact the Program Coordinator at (614) 299-6600, extension #2073.

"I've been Irish dancing since I was 6 years old. It all started one summer when I went to go see a family friend perform at a church festival. Captivated by the gracefulness and poise of the dancers as they flew effortlessly across the stage, I immediately knew that this was something that I wanted to do. I began dance lessons later that year, and continued to train and compete with my dance company until I graduated high school. Dancing quickly became a part of my daily routine and my identity. Since going away to college, I have not been able to dance as often as I would like, but I always make sure to make at least one guest appearance at a show or performance whenever I return to my hometown of Wheaton, IL."

"I was a founding member of The Poetry Forum at Larry's, which hosted readings at the historic bar from 1984 to 2011. The reading then moved to Rumba Cafe and more recently to Bossy Grrls Pin-Up Joint. The Poetry Forum was the city's first ongoing poetry reading venue, and it has established an enviable reputation throughout the Midwest as an eclectic and welcoming place to appear."

"I'm the longest continually serving brewer in Ohio and a committed bicycle commuter. I've been riding to Barley's Brewing Company for almost a quarter of a century and I can't remember the last time the weather has stopped me. I like to say that if I didn't like my job so much, my commute would be the best part of my work day. It helps that our neighborhood is relatively close to downtown and I can get on the fantastic trail along the Olentangy River right at the end of my street."
