Quality of Life in the University District

The planning team structured the conversation with the community around six main themes as they influence and impact the quality of life: Housing, Mobility & Transportation, Community Safety, Community Character & Life, Community Services, and Neighborhood Amenities.

There is an understanding that they don’t work in isolation but rather in conjunction with each other, as illustrated in the top right diagram.

In the same way, addressing issues related to any of these themes positively impact and help address the others, as illustrated in the diagram here.

Community sentiment was gathered through a three-part approach: an online survey, a series of guided discussions, and four focus groups. While the almost five hundred survey respondents provided mostly tallied answers, the guided discussions and focus groups allowed more in-depth conversations.
