FAQ
-
be/well – A look at quality values and culture:
The University District Organization (UDO) conducted a community engagement initiative to understand what it meant to be well in the University District
be/well takeaway:
A need for more organic opportunities for neighbors to meet and engage with community through (i.e. pocket parks)
Then, a unique community connection occured.
The Indianola Presbyterian Church (IPC) reached out to UDO asking about ways to transform their front lawn into a more welcoming space for all to use.
We applied for a grant and now we are here, in the process of creating a pocket park in the middle of the University District
-
The Neighborhood Design Center held a submission for the 614 Beautiful Grant. We applied and received funding!
-
We want the community involved in this process because this is your park, and we want to create something together that would be used by our residents (and visitors)
The pocket park will also feature a sculpture installation that is totem inspired to showcase the 13 neighborhoods of the district and the elements that make up the University District. Information gathered at these workshops will also inspire this public art piece.
To get involved you can participate in a workshop, help with design and design review, and assist with the implementation of building the pocket park!
